Do not forget…

Do not forget…

Do not forget…

Here’s what you absolutely must remember to have at your wedding!

It all starts with an English tradition and is based on a phrase from the Victorian era: “Something old, something new. Something borrowed, something blue. And a silver sixpence in your shoes”.
Each accessory has its own meaning and represents something important, especially on an emotional level. In recent years, in Italy, the sixpence coin in the shoe has been replaced by ‘something given away’.

For your big day, do not forget…

      SOMETHING OLD

To give importance to the link with the past and thus to the values handed down by the family of origin

Any ideas? Wear a necklace from your grandmother, the veil you married your mother with, the wedding dress that has been handed down from generation to generation or sew a button from an old dress that belonged to a relative with whom you have a deep connection into your wedding dress.

Wedding in Tuscany - Bed and Breakfast Villa di Sotto

      SOMETHING NEW

As a symbol of hope and optimism for the new life that is beginning.

Any ideas? In most cases it is the wedding dress itself, but it can also be a lipstick, an accessory, a piece of jewellery or a particular perfume.

Wedding in Tuscany - Bed and Breakfast Villa di Sotto

      SOMETHING BORROWED

Choosing to borrow something from a happy couple as if to attract some of their happiness to oneself was a custom of the past. Today, however, it is the friends who willingly give something truly personal to the bride as a sign of love.

Any ideas? An accessory, the wedding dress or a piece of jewellery.

Wedding in Tuscany - Bed and Breakfast Villa di Sotto

      SOMETHING BLUE

The choice of the colour blue over all other colours is linked to its symbolism as it carries the meaning of purity, fidelity and love.

Any ideas? A ribbon sewn into the wedding dress, a garter in a shade, a sapphire, jewellery in the colour of sea water or a pair of shoes to stand out from all the others.

Wedding in Tuscany - Bed and Breakfast Villa di Sotto

      A COIN IN THE SHOE

Thoughts turn to the economic prosperity of the new family being formed.

Any ideas? Place the coin inside the bride’s left shoe or sew it inside the dress. If you can’t find the sixpence, you can easily replace it with a one-cent coin.

Wedding in Tuscany - Bed and Breakfast Villa di Sotto

      SOMETHING GIVEN AS A PRESENT

In Italy, a small gift from a person who has a strong connection with the bride is preferred to a coin.

Any ideas? A pair of earrings from the mother-in-law, a garter from friends, underwear or a hair accessory.

The countdown to the most beautiful day!

Here are all the advice you need to organise your wedding in the best possible way and without stress

The big day is coming up and if emotions are running high, the preparation of the wedding becomes much more challenging. But don’t panic, we’ll help you organise everything! Ready to take notes?

Here are the steps to follow to make your wedding day unique and special!

          12 MONTHS EARLIER

          • Choose your wedding day: the first thing to decide is undoubtedly the date for the big day. The advice is to take into account not only the availability of your guests, but also the atmosphere and style you want to give to your wedding.
          • Establish the budget to spend on organising your wedding. In this case, it can be useful to draw up a list of priorities and ask for quotes from different suppliers.
          • Book the church and reception venue considering the number of guests and the mood you have chosen for your wedding.
          • Contact the photographer and video maker to capture the most beautiful moments of your wedding.
          • Define a training programme if you have decided to get fit before the big day.

          10 TO 6 MONTHS EARLIER

          • Decide on your wedding theme and start looking for your wedding dress: if you don’t have a clear idea, the advice is to take inspiration from magazines or directly from the Internet so that you can choose the style that suits you best.
          • Contact the parish priest to confirm the church and start the premarital course.
          • Drawing up the guest list: it is important to establish up to which degree of kinship invitations can be extended.
          • Choose your wedding witnesses and tell them, even in the most surprising way.
          • Send the Save the Date to your guests,a small reminder to announce your wedding day.
          • Prepare your wedding list and define your honeymoon:if you want your guests to contribute to the realisation of your dream, now is the time to open your wedding list.

          5 TO 2 MONTHS EARLIER

          • Order your wedding invitations, wedding favours and floral for the church, reception and bouquet.
          • Hire musicians for both the ceremony and the reception; and if you want afterhours contact a DJ as well.
          • Contact the professionals who will take care of the Make Up and Hair Style.
          • Hire a vehicle to travel to and from the ceremony venue.
          • Distribute the invitations either by delivering them in person or by sending them by post. In the second case, the advice is to make sure, with a phone call, that they have been received.
          • Choose the wedding rings: choose the person who will be responsible for giving them to you.
          • Choose the groom’s suit and those of the groomsmen and bridesmaids: if you choose a tailored suit for the groom, longer delivery times should be considered. For the little ones, the ideal is to choose coordinated suits with elements and/or colours that recall the theme of the entire ceremony.
          • Define the reception menu and the wedding cake.

          1 MONTH EARLIER

          • Picking up the wedding rings: also think about how you want them to be carried down the aisle, i.e. on a cushion or in some other way..
          • Updating the guest list and assigning places at the table: the recommendation here is to keep in mind the relationships between guests if you want to avoid gaffes.
          • Make a general fitting of the wedding dress and collect the groom’s suit.
          • Make an inspection of the church and reception venue and contact the musicians, florist and photographer to make sure everything is going well.

          3 – 2 WEEKS BEFORE

          • Define all the details: such as the timing of the day, who will do the readings, who will drive the bride’s car, where to take the photos after the ceremony. Nothing should be left to chance!
          • Check the number of people who have signed up for the reception, asking those who are undecided to inform the suppliers and the caterer of the exact number of guests.
          • ● Make a final fitting of the wedding dress and decide on the accessories.
          • Have a bachelor/bachelorette party with your closest friends.

          THE WEEK BEFORE

          • Take a look at the weather: in case of bad weather discuss Plan B with suppliers.
          • Have a rehearsal of the wedding procession: so you can go over the manner and order of entry.
          • Go to the beauty salon to have your hair cut and/or coloured and have a thorough manicure and pedicure.
          • Pick up your wedding dress and accessories.

          THE DAY BEFORE

          • Check table arrangements, table settings, decorations and place cards.
          • Confirm appointments with hairdresser, make-up artist, photographer, driver for the following morning..
          • Entrust the bride with everything she needs to touch up her make-up, as well as a spare pair of stockings, a pair of comfortable shoes and a needle and thread, just in case!

          THE BIG DAY HAS ARRIVED

          • Wake up early.
          • Complete your manicure, hairdo and make-up.
          • Having the bouquet delivered to your home…

Now everything is ready, all that’s missing is your Yes!

This is how the journey towards the “I do” day begins

The marriage proposal has arrived and now it’s time to plan the best day of your life!

Wedding planning is an overwhelming phase that requires a lot of time, patience and commitment. From the choice of wedding dress to the choice of location, from compiling the wedding list to the guest list, from identifying the theme to the choice of floral decorations and bouquet, to dealing with possible unforeseen events. There are so many decisions to be made and of course everyone dreams of the perfect wedding. But where should you start when planning your wedding?

If you want to find out how best to organise the most important day of your life, follow our handy guide and you’ll see your dream come true!

Here are the first 7 essential steps in organising the perfect event…

              CHOOSING A WEDDING DATE

Everything starts here. The first decision to be made is the day on which you will say “Yes, I do”. Of course, there are a few key aspects to bear in mind when choosing the day of the event:

              • Take your time so that you can prepare your wedding calmly and carefully work out all the details. The advice is to think about it at least a year in advance. Moving well in advance may also give you the opportunity to set the wedding day on a date that is “special” to you.
              • Identifying the season in which to get married is a crucial choice as it will determine every other aspect of the wedding, from the wedding dress, to the type of reception, to the floral decorations.
              • Keep an eye on the calendar to ensure that your wedding does not coincide with a national or regional holiday.
              • Finding out about the availability of the church and reception venue is another step to take before deciding on the wedding day.

              DEFINE YOUR BUDGET

There is no such thing as an ideal or fixed budget; each couple decides how much they want to invest according to their financial possibilities. Drawing up a list of priorities and then defining what is essential for you becomes an important step as it will allow you to have a clear picture of the investments to be made for each item of expenditure.

              DRAW UP A GUEST LIST

After the friends you can’t do without and the closest relatives, deciding who to invite to your wedding becomes a really thorny task. Between your parents’ requests and the formal invitations there will be a war to the last chair!

DETERMINE THE TYPE OF RITE TO CELEBRATE THE UNION

A Catholic ceremony takes much longer than a civil ceremony. If your wish is to get married in a church, consider that you will need about 85 days to complete all the steps required for the religious ceremony, from the choice of parish, premarital training, to the parish and municipal banns. Then you have 180 days to get married, after which the documents are no longer valid and you have to start again from scratch.

The civil ceremony is a much more flexible procedure and the timeframe is shorter. In this case, the bureaucratic process will keep you busy for about a month, followed by the 180 days within which to get married.

              BOOK THE LOCATION

Also in this case, the first recommendation is to move in time. Start looking for a location about 10 months beforehand and your chances of finding the venue you have fallen in love with will increase.

HIRE A PHOTOGRAPHER AND VIDEO MAKER

The photographer and the video maker are undoubtedly two indispensable figures on the most important day of your life. They are the ones who will immortalise the most beautiful and emotional moments of your wedding in a professional manner.

              CHOOSE THE MUSICIANS

First of all, the music should reflect the style of your wedding, the type of celebration you want to experience and share with your guests and, of course, the couple you are.

Consider, then, that if you have decided to get married in a church, you will probably need to hire different musicians. Therefore, ask for quotes from each one and find out about deposits so that the total amount of musical entertainment does not exceed your budget.

SOS Wedding in sight (Part 2)

The guide to stress-free wedding planning!

This is how the second phase of your journey towards your “I do” day unfolds

Now it is time to go into more detail about the organization. At this stage, you need to start looking for your wedding dress, plan your honeymoon and draw up your wedding list, choose your flower arrangements and wedding favors and send out your wedding invitations.

There are still many decisions to be made, but with good planning, you will be able to tick off all the items on your checklist step by step and without anxiety.

Here are 5 key steps to take in the second stage of organising your ideal wedding…

              WEDDING WITNESSES

Witnesses are essential figures, so their identification should not be underestimated. First of all, they will be there for you during the planning stage, giving you advice, personally taking care of some of the responsibilities you have entrusted to them or listening to your outbursts, but above all they will support you during the best day of your life. The advice is therefore to choose people close to you, such as family members or best friends.

              THE WEDDING DRESS SEARCH

If the wedding day is about 8 months away, it is time to start the “atelier tour”. The choice of a bride’s dress is certainly one of the most difficult but also most exciting aspects of the whole organizational phase.

The first piece of advice is to make an appointment with the atelier to ensure that you have a consultant at your disposal. Another recommendation before starting the search is not to fixate too much on a particular model, but also to examine hypotheses that were not initially considered.

              HONEYMOON AND WEDDING LIST

The honeymoon is probably the most fun part of planning. When choosing a destination, certain aspects such as the availability of holidays for both parties and the budget for the trip have to be taken into account. However, it has become customary for the bride and groom to ask their guests for a gift of a certain amount of money to cover the costs of the honeymoon. Nevertheless, if you have a dream destination, the advice is to go there, because this will be your most beautiful and unforgettable trip.

A wedding list, on the other hand, can be useful if you are not yet living together and want to set up home. On the other hand, if you already have a house of your own and are not lacking anything, you can still make a list with a few special and sought-after items, everything you have ever dreamed of. Making the perfect wish list has become so easy!

In both cases, the decision should be made before the invitations are sent out, so that you can give information about what you want to receive as a gift for your guests.

              FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS AND FAVOURS

Flowers are another key element of a wedding. From the bouquet and the groom’s buttonhole flower to the bracelets for the groomsmen and bridesmaids and the church and reception venue, everything should be in line with the theme and colours you have chosen for your wedding. The decision should of course fall on a flower of your preference, but make sure it is in season, otherwise you will have to have it flown in from abroad and the costs will increase considerably.

Wedding favours are the reminder that you will leave your guests of your wedding day. There are many possibilities here: from edible ones, such as bottles of limoncello or do-it-yourself honey bottles, to green ones, such as small sachets with seeds to plant or pots with succulents, to fair trade or traditional ones. The important thing is that they always match the theme of the wedding and leave something of the two of you behind.

              WEDDING PARTICIPATIONS

Recently, the practice of sending the Save the Date before distributing the invitations has become widespread. This is how the bride and groom announce their wedding day. This is followed, no later than 3 months before the wedding, by the actual invitations. Once again, the co-ordinated approach is used: print menus, mass booklets and everything else on paper with the same graphics as the invitations, for a winning result!

SOS Wedding in sight (Part 3)

The last steps to planning your wedding!

Here are the final preparations that will lead you to your “I do” day

Your wedding day is getting closer and closer. But if you want to cross the finish line in the best possible way, there are a few details to work out and final purchases to make. So get your checklist in hand and start ticking!

Here are the last 5 important steps in perfect wedding planning…

              THE BRIDE’S ACCESSORIES

Once the dress has been purchased, the next step is of course to choose the accessories that will complete the bride’s look. Shoes are undoubtedly the most important element. When choosing the model, take the dress as a reference, but at the same time don’t overlook the location where the reception will be held: if the celebrations are on a lawn or a pebbly ground, for example, opt for a low shoe or a wide heel.

Then think about whether you would like to wear a veil, a crown of flowers or another hair accessory such as a hair clip or tiara; whether you might need a clutch or a stole for the evening; and finally whether you would like to wear gloves.

Of course, don’t forget the jewellery. In this case you can choose to buy pearls or diamonds or, why not, wear the family’s own.

              THE GROOM’S SUIT SEARCH

The time has also come for the groom to look for his suit and accessories. If the choice is for a tailored suit, the recommendation is to calculate the delivery time well, as it will be longer. In any case, bear in mind that depending on the time of the ceremony the model to be worn changes!

              WEDDING RINGS

The choice of wedding rings should be carefully thought out and, above all, they should please you both. The decision on the colour of the gold and the type of model is of great importance as you will wear the rings every day after the wedding, so they will become almost like a second skin.

              GADGETS

Buy gadgets to decorate the reception venue, such as balloons and streamers, or amaze your guests with luminous lanterns and sparklers to light up during the cutting of the cake.

              BACHELOR AND BACHELORETTE PARTIES

Usually the organisation of the bachelor and bachelorette parties for newlyweds is the responsibility of the best friends, whether two separate parties or one big party.. Your job, therefore, is to provide them with the guest list. Then have fun and enjoy the celebrations!
