Dieser Ort stellte eine Etappe der kaiserlichen Stra\u00dfe dar, die die Via Cassia mit der Aurelia verband.<\/p>\n<p>Die <strong>historischen Informationen<\/strong> \u00fcber die Pieve sind fragmentarisch, aber die vorhandenen Dokumente und ihre architektonische Struktur erm\u00f6glichen den Wissenschaftlern eine teilweise Rekonstruktion ihrer Geschichte. Die Kirche wird bereits 1050 erw\u00e4hnt, aber das uns \u00fcberlieferte Geb\u00e4ude wurde im folgenden Jahrhundert von den Vallombrosianerm\u00f6nchen von Torri errichtet.<\/p>\n<p>Dieses Geb\u00e4ude war die Sommerresidenz des <strong>Bischofs von Siena<\/strong>, w\u00e4hrend der Kreuzgang die Anwesenheit einer Gemeinschaft von Presbytern bezeugt, d.h. jungen unverheirateten M\u00e4nnern, die durch das Zusammenleben in das klerikale Leben eingeweiht wurden. Aus den Bogensch\u00fctzen, Arkebusen und Schie\u00dfscharten l\u00e4sst sich ableiten, dass die Anlage befestigt war.<\/p>\n<p>Das wichtigste Element des Pfarrkirche ist der Glockenturm, aber auch sein Eingang ist sehr <strong>besonders<\/strong>, denn hier geht man nicht hinauf, sondern die Stufen hinunter. Dies wurde so gemacht, dass die Kirche von innen schlanker aussieht, als man es sich von au\u00dfen vorstellt.
